Lucky, Lucky.
The past few weeks have been a tumultuous time for Asian countries:
Earthquakes in Padang where whole villages were buried in landslides,
collapsed buildings, loss of lives, tsunami effects on nearby islands.
Typhoon Ketsana that lashed on Philippines, Vietnam and caused loss
of lives and floods.
Typhoon Melor that lashed on Taiwan and Japan that caused floods
and cutting power to 10,000 homes and blown roofs.
Floods in southern India after torrential rains that displace 1.5 million people
from their homes.
I felt sorry for all the people that were affected, lost, found or perished in
those natural disasters.
Thanks God! I am very lucky to be living in a country that is free from
those disasters except for the occasional landslides or floods.

RELIVING THE PAST.
The Beatles was everyone favorite band and i am
sure each and every one of us must have heard, sung or
hummed to a Beatles songs every now and then.
Today, The Beatles still have a big and powerful
influence on all mankind in the world with their music.
I am one and so are my friends and my kids.
The Beatles-Rock Band got me singing again.
It had been a long time coming about 35 years !
My son Mike hooked on a singalong microphone on
his PS3 and the first song "Come Together"
was enough to get my adrenalin pumping and feet
tapping even though i was out of key on some parts
of the song !!!
Songs like " I wanna hold your hands", "One way ticket",
"Something", "Get back".........etc with their catchy
lyrics and lovely melodies, sure brought back good memories.
I will practice more on my singing and
maybe post one of it on Youtube in the near future. Lol !
The Beatles are forever!

FEAR OF H1N1.
As I am a cancer survivor, the fear of contracting H1N1-a viral
infection, is giving me sleepless night.
The media reported death of young and old people in my country
everyday.
This year, there will be no countdown for the country National Day's
Celebration on 31/9/2009 in order to prevent the disease from
spreading further!
For preventive measures :
1.I try not go to crowded places.
2.Wash my hands frequently.
3.Social distancing -stay 2 metres away from the nearest person.
4. Exercise, eat and sleep well.
5. Consult a doctor if I have symptoms of cough, fever, sore throat or body aches.
For those having cough/sneezing- please wear a mask to prevent it from spreading.

FATHER'S DAY DINNER.
My father passed away two months ago, so this father's day dinner
without him was a very low key affair.Normally we would have an
eight course Chinese dinner set to honor him each year.
This year, father's day was celebrated with my mother, my children,
my younger brother Meng and his family and my sister Shirley and her family.
We ordered some dishes to go with our piping hot white fragrant rice.
Aquarium filled with live fishes.

Family members.
Mung bean noodle cooked with Chinese white cabbage with preserved Beancurd.
Deep fried Tofu in Soy sauce topped with deep fried dried shrimps.
Boiled Sea prawns.
Blanched Kai lan.
Braised Duck with tangy tamarind juice and Chinese Mustard green.
Steamed Grass Carp garnished with deep fried shallots and coriander leaves.

MOTHER OF MINE.
It has been a week since my father passed away,
and for most of us, we can still feel that he is still
around watching over us.
My mother is still in a bit state of depression, too scare
to sleep in the same room which she shared with my father.
Last weekend, we have the whole gang over to console
and keep her company.
We bought a queen sized bed to replaced the king sized
one and for a change, my wife repainted her room
with a soothing light green color.
The room's furniture were rearranged but an oil painting
of them in their fine wedding attire and a photo of my father
superimposed with the well muscled body of
Arnold Schwarzenegger were left intact.
I pray and hope that my mother can get over this difficult phase as soon as possible.
